British F3 star Oli Webb to start Cheshire athletic event

– Professional and amateur athletes throughout the country will gather in Cheshire for the Oulton Park Spring Duathlon on Sunday 3 April, where top contenders will have the opportunity to qualify for the ITU Duathlon World Championship. The event, which is open to teams and individual entries, will begin with a two lap run around the International circuit before competitors mount their bicycles for a gruelling nine lap sprint.

There will then be a further one-lap dash on foot to the finish line. The top three eligible men and women from the Oulton Park Spring Duathlon will gain places on the GB Duathlon Team, along with the chance to take part in the ITU Duathlon World Championship at Gijon, Spain in September. 2011 will be the fourth year that organisers Xtra Mile Events have run a duathlon at Oulton Park, and race director Simon Hill is looking forward to another exciting event. “Competitors love it. The venue is superb, and this will be a fantastic race from which to select GB team members for the 2011 World Championship,” he said. In celebration of the duathlon’s motorsport setting, British F3 ace Oli Webb from Knutsford will officially start the event. Spectators are welcome to attend the Oulton Park Spring Duathlon free of charge.
