LMP1 racer Oli Webb is just a few days from competing in the worlds oldest active sports car race. The town of Le Mans will soon by taken over by hundreds of thousands of fans in what is regarded as one of the most iconic race on the planet alongside the Indy 500 and Monaco Grand Prix.

The race represents Round 3 of the World Endurance Championship with Oli and his Bykolles team hoping to avoid any reliability issues over the 24 hrs, if they can manage that, a podium is very possible.

“I’ve been looking forward to this race all year, its such a special place”, commented Webb.  “The atmosphere will be incredible in the week leading up to the start and I intend to take it all in. Once the build up is done my focus will be entirely on the race where we’re hopeful of a positive result. It’s meant to rain all week so it could be a real challenge and there’s a good chance to win”

The race will cover a distance in excess of 5,000km so the key will be speed whilst looking after the machinery, fuel and tires, it’s a true test of a drivers skill and endurance with stints up to 2 hours before handing over to a teammate.

Webb continued, “24 hours sounds like a long time, and it is.  We’ll go through a range of emotions and feelings and I’m sure there will be challenges we’ll have to overcome, but that’s the beauty of the race. If you finish, and finish well, its really something to be proud of.”

Free practice gets underway on 15th June followed by Qualification 1.  Qualification 2 and 3 are on the 16th, warm up on the morning of the 18th before the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans at 15:00local time on Saturday 16th June.

Webb has previous form at LeMans having finished 3rd with home favourites Alpine in LMP2 in his first ever year on his way to winning European Title and last year he was running in 2nd place before an engine fire ended his race.
